| Who are we |
We are the Rhondda Valley Runners - formed in 1985 by a group of friends who had a mutual interest in running, some slow, some faster, but the same interest at heart. We have a membership of approximately 20 that ranges in age from the not so old, to the bloody decrepit ! Unfortunately at present we don't allow children to train with us. We are affiliated to the A A W ( Athletics Association of Wales ) with our club colours for those who race being a red vest with a white "V" on the front and back.
| Where do we meet |
We meet every Monday and Wednesday evening (exept Bank Holidays) at Ystrad Sports Centre. We tend to use the dry changing areas from around 6:40, and then congregate in the reception foyer at 7pm.
| What do we do |
Depending on the time of year, training varies between 1 mile ( or less ! ) and 13 miles, this can be quick or slow especially if people are training for marathons. Usually the group will stay together and the ladies don't run on their own unless they ask to. Training can include speed sessions and hill work
| Social side |
Firstly , I can assure you that you will always find somebody willing to share a pint or six with you !!! ( Lucozade or Strongbow ! )
As most of us run simply to avoid the " middle aged spread " we have a Fat Boys "weigh in" league most training nights with a nominal entry fee - All proceeds to local charity Each December we have the annual presentation awards and during the Summer a barbecue is arranged.
